Let’s give a hand to pain and suffering.

Without them we’d never change.

That’s because we organize ourselves into mood and fear congruent lifestyles. These lifestyles, protected by laws, our own inertia, and the civility of others, trap us in safety and numbness. If we’re lucky, our spirit makes us crazy and miserable. If we’re really lucky then we do something about that misery. Maybe we change careers, jobs, marriages, religious lifestyles. And if we’re super lucky then we realize that instead of all that drama, all we really need to do is look again in between the lines.

That’s the promise of cognitive therapy.
